ABOUT THIS COIN:
Prospector Copper Round
These Prospector Copper rounds are produced by Provident Mint in Dallas. The Provident Mint is a private mint, and one of the only private mints that is certified to produce gold and Copper bars and rounds that are IRA eligible. They are known for their many designs, one of the best known being the Prospector. This mint only uses bullion from a London Bullion Market Association approved vendor within the United States. Designs from this private mint tend to be highly detailed and of obvious quality.
1 oz. .999 Fine Copper
Each of these rounds from the Provident Mint contains 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine Copper. That is the same level of purity that can be found in the majority of government issued Copper bullion coins, including the American Copper Eagle. Since this mint uses bullion purchased from a LBMA approved vendor and the facility is ISO9001 certified, the purity and weight of these rounds is sure to meet or exceed the standards given.
When a blank is struck by a government mint, it becomes a coin. When a blank is struck by a private mint, it becomes a round.
A large price difference between government issued Copper coins and privately minted Copper rounds is in the amount of premium that is added to the cost. Typically, purchasing Copper rounds as opposed to government issued Copper coins will allow you to purchase more Copper for the same amount of money. That is the main reason that some bullion buyers prefer rounds.
However, when purchasing Copper rounds it would be prudent to select one that is easily recognized. This makes the round easier to sell or trade when the time comes. As mentioned, the Prospector design from Provident Mint is one of the most well-known designs.
The front of this fine Copper Prospector round displays a prospector standing before his mule with a pickaxe and gold pan. The rugged pair are standing at the bottom of a Western looking canyon. This design is finely detailed. The texture of the rocks and soil can be seen clearly, as well as every fold and wrinkle in the prospector’s clothes and boots. Even the muscles of the mule’s shoulder can be seen with a closer look. This side of the round reads “PROSPECTOR.”
The reverse of the 1 oz. Prospector round displays a few of the weathered adventurer’s tools. Placed on a wooden table or floor is a map, with a compass and sextant on top of it. The grain of the wooden surface in the background can be seen with lucid clarity. This side is inscribed with the words “ONE TROY OUNCE,” and “.999 FINE COPPER.”
